gamemaker broken

Darn Gamemaker! and darn Vista!

So I got this brand new Compaq laptop last month (3GB ram, 2.0 Ghz dual core, 160GB hd, etc.) and it has Vista. And so, Gamemaker has critical problems. When I save a file in gamemaker I cannot access the files that it makes in windows explorer! O_O ITS TERRIBLE! it will effectively end my gamemaker career if their isnt a solution. When the program opens I get an error that says "failed to set data for". its totally lame.

Yay for 64digits… i was worried for a long time, but this last transfer im afraid has wounded 64digits to the core. I dont kno if we can ever recover… :/

Yay for Prom!

Go with wonderful C++, or perhaps give Python a try!

Learn C or C++. They're harder but, once you get the hang of one, it's not too bad. I'm still learning C++ but it's not THAT bad.

I don't see why so many people see C/C++ as an improvement. Game Maker doesn't really limit you from greating a good game… moving on to another language doesn't really help. I know, GM has limitations, but honestly, do you really need to go over that limit? You're making a GAME.

mesenberg, it's a suggestion, but if you don't like Vista too much install XP on your laptop. I did on my cousin's laptop and I'm a complete idiot when it comes to formatting. It's not hard, and it was worth it. A bunch of games run pretty damn fast on it now.

Is Vista really that much slower than XP, because I had XP and now I have Vista and personally I think my computer got faster…

That's one place you do not want to go, you will enter a world of pain mentioning that language around me, A WORLD OF PAIN!

torrent is sooo freakin slow, i got it once and it was like 15kb a sec or whatever… lame.

yea i thought about xp, but I would have to get pretty desperate. I might just go without gamemaker and explore other avenues. maybe GM8 when it comes out will be fixed for vista.
