Anyone Need a Composer?

Posted by mr8bit on Sept. 17, 2012, 6:55 p.m.

Hello all. My name is mr8bit and I am the composer on the recently-released game, DUNGEONMEN: Men of Dungeons, which won second place in the RPG4D contest. I was just posting to see if anyone out there is interested in having me compose a soundtrack for their game… FOR FREE.

I have a few stipulations, though. First, I insist on having control of the ENTIRE soundtrack. I won't do just one or two tracks. I can't stand it when a game has a cobbled-together, inconsistent soundtrack and I refuse to be a part of any such thing. Second, it is essential that I have a good deal of freedom as to what the final soundtrack will sound like. You can tell me a general feeling or mood of the music you want, but NOT what instruments I should use. And third, I do not do midi. I will send mp3s, oggs, WAVs… whatever. Just not midi.

That's about it. If you are interested in my offer, check out DUNGEONMEN to get an idea of what I do. I work in all styles and have no preferences in regards to the game's genera. Hit me up and let's get to work!

So wait, Tubes, Oakfalls.

Fuck.

I got like.

School.

And Homework.

And Credence Filter.

And S4D.

And Friends.

And Sleep.

And Guildwars 2.

I need to get rid of one of those and see if I can shimmy Oakfalls in there somewhere.

Also, Kilin, change your avatar. It stopped being funny 12 seconds after I saw it.

Ahahah! This man does not understand the laziness lazyness that comes with being a 64D member!

In other words, change it yourself, you asshole.

I don't buy the "FULL impact and context of the music" stuff.

Just my philosophy. Like, I can listen to the original Super Mario theme for HOURS on end… as long as I am playing the game. It just compliments jumping on Goombas so well. But would I listen to it while driving in my car? Well sure… if I was an absolute lunatic. And even if I did, all I would be thinking about would be jumping on Goombas. Context is VERY important when making (or listening to) a soundtrack.

That being said, I would be happy to PM you some DUNGEONMEN tracks. I know how TOUGH that game is, and it's a crime that most people won't hear the Final Boss Theme.

You're cool and all but it's kinda annoying putting Dungeonmen in full caps every time you use it.

Juju: Are you saying the game can't be called "DUNGEONMEN"?

Oh man! All throughout the development stages, the title actually was all in caps. I didn't realize Harlock had changed it for the release. So, you are right. It is annoying and I am sorry.

Personal preference, not a rule or nothin'. Harks back to CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL for me… dark days, dark days.
