So there's a contest going on down at Narf Co. The prize is $500, and Lions of the Atlantic is one of the competitors. However, the administration seems to be running something fishy - one of the games (called "Narf Wars") got three votes - before the download link was released. I don't think it deserves to win (it's a simple TDS game), so I have a proposal to all my blog-readers: Vote for LotA in the Narf Co. forums, and I will give you the opportunity to beta-test DoC's upcoming demo. This means that you'd get it up to a week before everyone else, get your names in the credits, and have a chance to suggest things to be added to the game. Don't let a second-rate game carry the day - vote LotA Today!
Narf Co contest linkThe standard update: Combat is now ~50% done. Things that have been added:* Militia and Bowman units now creatable, usable* Cursor control has been tightened and is now 100% accurate.* Aggressive, Defensive stances added to the game* At-a-glance view of multiple units' health points in the interfaceI have a couple of screenshots for y'all today, including one of a battle in progress.
=/ Admins have to activate your account for me to be able to vote.
Explanation of battle screen:
The units to the foreground are axemen. Several of them are dead, which explains the men lying on the ground. I haven't added attack time randomization yet, which means that the units are all (at the moment the image was taken) in between attacks. In the background are four Bowmen, who are aiming towards the melee. Bowmen, while not the most accurate or well-armored units, have a chance to do a 10x-damage attack, which can kill most similar units. This makes flanking and taking out your enemy's bowmen with fast units somewhat of a priority.->Desertfox: Then let them activate it. Voting lasts a week, and that ought to be enough time.
I have a suspicion that all the narf co admins voted for their own game; the game wasn't available for download until late yesterday, and it got two votes before then. I have tried it, and honestly it seems to be a rather mediocre top-down shooter. With that in mind, I don't feel bad about encouraging this community to come change the score.Don't vote for Omicron, vote for me, Dominos [:D]
I'm voting for dominoes, once I can vote..
Thanks bryan.
I'm beginning to think this competition could be a scam…the game Narf Wars is winning, and the website is called Narfco…Any connection there? Looks like the website owners are going to claim their own prize. ¬_¬I don't vote…
->Marbs: I had the same idea. Thing is, unless we can get three games with more points than Narf Wars, the judges (narf judges) will vote for Narf Wars - no matter what the other games are. In order for ANY of our games to have a chance, we must keep Narf Wars out of the running - and that means that three other games must be given more votes than it has. Comprendez?

Update: The admin of narf co has assured me that the "narf wars" game is not a site-run game, and simply has so many votes because its maker has many friends. Apparently, the contest is safe - go vote.
