S4D Mini Progress Reports

This blog is for posting small bits and pieces of progress you've made; anything that you feel doesn't warrant an entirely new blog.

And try to comment on other people's work a bit too! Feedback is going to be very useful during the course of this competition!

Here's an archive of today's livestream from me:

It's embarassing in multiple facets but I decided to post it nontheless. Maybe the foolishness of this one will motivate me to bury it with many more livestreams…

making selections in blender looks painfully slow

There are hotkeys for it that I don't know :( There are also lasso and boundary selection tools but I didn't feel like using them just for comforts sake.

Depends on the methods you use. It has some excellent loop selection tools, region selections and a cut-away selection that allows you to focus on particular portions of a model.

@Zac1790: B key for a rectangular selection box. Alt+R for Edge-loop selection. Try it out. :P

Added a noise effect (which is getting this game seriously creepy) and some more rooms. Learned some app-surface/shaders stuff along the way.

Also added an ambient music for the basement area, which goes ALL SILENT!!! in a corridor… that leads to the cave area where a castlevania-clock-towerish piece I call Half Past Perish starts playing.

Best. Transition. I've. Ever. Made. In. A. Game.

This is still not really scary, though. I'll see what I can do about that.

And we're back! Blender is becoming easier for me with daily use :D

Spent way too much time on this concept, so I stopped for now. I was just doing a few concepts for the overall location of my game, which takes place inside this thing. Or parts of it, anyway.

What is it, you ask? Something that's big, sits in space… and according to most anime involving them, have a high tendency of being dropped on the unsuspecting planet below.

@Mega: That looks like something you'd see in FTL. Neat.

Thanks! I've never played or seen FTL, but I'll take that as a compliment from what I've heard of it!

EDIT: From that concept art, I've started to make the first interior tileset, and a transition tileset. Oh, and fancy Megaman X/Zero style doors:
