Camera Dynamics Poll [64Brawl]

Posted by Castypher on March 20, 2008, 11:49 a.m.

Remember, anything tagged with "[64Brawl]" has to do with the game itself. It's just to let you know what the blog is about.

So, here's another bit of info, as well as a poll.

I'm sure everyone remembers the SSB fighting screen, right? It zooms in and out depending on how far apart the players are. In doing this, you can see every character that's in the middle of the battle, with the exception of those off of the screen.

A GM-type view only shows your character, and being less dynamic, will cause less confusion. You couldn't see every character at once, but it has that hide-and-seek element to it.

Take your choice, just like last time.

A. SSB Camera

B. GM View

Results

A……………………………………8

B……………………………………1

I'm confident the SSB camera is possible without using 3D, so if the votes come to that, it'll take me a while, but I should have it down.

Also, beta testing is coming up. Only people featured in the game (maybe not even that many) will be able to play. People should be their own characters.

Thanks for reading, go ahead and vote again.

I choose A.

Hmm, difficult… Depents on it I guess?

But I assume the SSB cam looks more spectacular :P

So B

SSB Camera, A; and yes it is perfectly possible without using 3D!

I personally a think a fixed camera would be better myself. (Easier to code, you could just scale the characters up or down to make the stage seem bigger or smaller)

But I think I prefer A of the two choices, (as there is less chance of camping).

I definitely think it should be the SSB style camera. Otherwise, we might as well call the game "Fighting, 64D style"

The main element in SSB games is the camera. Without that, it's not an SSB game.

So definitely the First choice…A

Smashera is an awesome thing, so A.

A would be better, IMO. Always having your enemy onscreen adds some sort of urgency and focus to the game.

A, simple use of ports would do it

(A) I believe there is a SSB camera example over at the GMC that you may want to check out.

I think that one was 3D, AM.
