64DCG *cough*

Remember this? I told you I hadn't forgotten.

Due to school and a few other things, I've had a lot of downtime on my S4D project. It'll end up being a lot shorter than intended, but I've saved most of the fun for F4D. In all honesty, I've been very busy the past year with school, work, and the RPG competition (which I still need to adjust my game for, but there's no more interest, so fuck it). So, during this week's downtime, I've gone back to 64DCG to plod away.

All I have to say is that things are looking good.

When first playing the game, you'll be required (will offer a bypass later) to play in a "Personal Story" mode, which allows you to customize your character, including, name, gender, appearance, personality, and even your avatar. Additionally, choices throughout the game will affect your route, the dialogue, the difficulty of the fights, and whether or not the character you're fighting will end up joining your party.

You're strongly encouraged to play as yourself, as even your choices in character design might get you some recognition within the game.

The Personal Story mode will be a bit lengthy, as it requires you to interact with many 64Digits characters. As such, you'll be able to save your progress between stages, and even change the difficulty if you get sick of playing on preschool mode.

After beating a stage boss, provided you said the right things and/or finished their fight the right way, they'll be able to join your party. You can drop old members to make way for new ones. New party members always start at the lowest level, so dropping members late in the game for the sake of experimentation may not be the best idea.

Did I mention multiplayer? There's multiplayer. Right now I'm thinking co-op only, but might be able to work in some PvP. However, the initial version of the game is probably just going to include Personal Story mode. I need someplace to set the bar early on.

More on this later.

And DaggerHog, the only thing keeping me from doing that is whether to do splitscreen, which would be difficult for the amount of information currently on the screen, or shared-screen, which would be competitive and doing the same shit, or ghost, where you can see the other player but can't affect them.
Ghost is probably the way to go, IMO.

And Taizen, if you read this again, I'm scrapping your character in favor of Traizn Choosou. That'll make an epic boss.

waaah

Do I still get some amount of control over reusing some old theme for it? Because I don't know how quite to capture the feel of having to shoot down a train. :V

Just remix the Thomas the Train theme, but use more ZUNpets.

And ghost is like the easiest way to do multiplayer. Only issue now is how to synchronize boss deaths. Maybe have the stage end early if someone finishes before the other? Then a score bonus for the kill. Hmm, maybe. Yeah, that would work.

Guys I got this.

Oh, and just a disclaimer for those of you with fragile egos. This is a satirical game and if I have the opportunity, I will poke fun at anyone and everyone. So nobody go getting all offended or anything, it's all in good fun.

I'm already offended from you stating that.

JuurianChi might be a good evil character, or if you don't mind if they're active or not you could also use novabones or bobert.

Wouldn't a game like this appeal to a rather limited audience ?
