[DSG] FUCK. [update#2]

Posted by DSG on Dec. 2, 2010, 3:54 a.m.

ok. basically, depths is on my handy dandy flash drive. and now, the flash drive RANDOMLY isnt being recognised by any computer i own. FUCK. THIS. SHIT. ill probly have to send my usb to someone who can extract the data off of it. ill keep you folks updated.

[EDIT:]

No progress. Maybe I'll just start over. Again. loljkidkfuck.

[EDIT:]

OH well, Guess I'll start from 2 months ago. I have to re-program in the ledges…. fuck.

OH, but today, I decided to re-pixel the protagonist. FINALLY Stopped being lazy. He is no longer all black and no longer blends into doors and dark backgrounds. I had to resprite every single animation of him running, climbing, jumping, turning, standing, crouching, etc. In-game, the suit looks much more… suit like. It's got lights and its shiny and looks like armor not just spandex haha

And, I was thinking, it'd only make sense to give him a kind of breathing apparatus. I mean, he is on an alien world.

[EDIT:]

Trying to get as much that I lost back as possible. Luckily, I had a copy of the most recent version of the tile set for this area. Check out his new suit, really does a lot, doesn't it?

How do I do that, Flashback? It's on a usb drive and the computer doesn't interact with it. It has a blue light that always comes on and It won't do that any longer. My computer has no access to the flash drive

Did you try FB's link? You haven't responded to anyone's suggestions, so I assume you didn't.

Sounds like your poor little flash drive is kaput.

You've successfully scared me into backing up my own files. I'm truly surprised you haven't kept a more up-to-date backup of Depths, considering how long you've been working at it. Even if the flash drive didn't fail, what would happen if you lost the thing?

In any case, looks like you're stuck with that months-old backup. Unfortunate, Depths was looking quite nice.

File recovery apps won't do him any good if the drive's hardware is borked so badly that his computer won't even recognize it.

I'm not sure how many computers he's tried, but if he's only tried one, then the only hope he has is that maybe the fault is with the computer's usb port and not his flash drive.

Dropbox. Use it.

Seriously, everyone just sign up for Dropbox. I'm already up to 3.25 GB space, all free :3

EDIT: Someone signed up immediately after I posted this, ticking me up to 3.5 GB :D

EDIT2: And someone else! 3.75 GB now :D

Thanks, guys!

You start with 2 GB, and we'll both get an extra 256 MB if you sign up through this link here: https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTE1NjY1Njc0OQ?src=global0

After signing up, go here: https://www.dropbox.com/free and here: https://www.dropbox.com/gs and follow all the instructions to get ~1 GB for free.

I have all my Uni work on there, and the code projects are under source control in addition to that. There's no way I'm losing any of my important stuff. It's all backed up onto an external hard-drive, too. All of these things are automatic, and none were difficult to set up.

I can go into more detail on how stuff is set up if people want, although I'll be checking back here pretty infrequently, so maybe PM me in that case.

tl;dr - Sign up for dropbox through this link: https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTE1NjY1Njc0OQ?src=global0

That reminds me, I've been planning on backing up some stuff onto my website.

Take the flash drive drive to someone who can fix it. Like, you know, with soldering irons and screwdrivers and fuckin' magnets.

DSG 13 years, 11 months ago

and now I have dropbox.

At least you haven't given up on it yet. No, you didn't even get discouraged. You got right back up and started again. Well done.
