Guitars

New blog, old week…

Guitars

Something I always wanted to do was build my own guitar. I would paint it with psychadelic designs and decals like Hendrix did. I don’t like most guitar shapes nowadays. Too many ugly ones like these:

Honestly, who would use those guitars. They look painful to handle. Truly are Batman guitars…

The only ones I really like are the double cutaways and the famous Les Pauls (which cost a fortune, mind you). My favorite guitar brands: Fender, Ernie Ball (MusicMan Series), and Gibson. I actually quite like Steinberger guitars for their unique shape, but I suppose that would fall under the Gibson category.

I don’t really use much distortion in my playing, so I don’t have any distortion pedals. I do have a wah wah pedal for those classic sounds from bands like The Grateful Dead. Something I really enjoy is my guitar slide, which is something used a lot in blues playing. It’s extremely fun to use, but I’m still learning how to use it. They cost around 7 dollars for a pretty decent one, so they are quite cheap to buy. Also, Guitar Hero and all of it’s clones suck. Period. Nothing beats playing a real guitar and actually learning something instead of pressing a few buttons on a fake plastic guitar.

Hmm… looks like a toddler guitar.

Xbox

My best friend just bought an Xbox 360. It’s so good

We played Halo 3 all weekend on it. And Kane & Lynch, which by the way is an awesome game despite the many glitches and bugs we found. We played ‘till 2 in the morning, which is something I never do. Ahh… good times…

Ice tea (lemon) fueled us on the difficult journey, and we nearly finished Kane & Lynch. And Halo 3.

Too bad I couldn’t say the same for the numerous essays that were due this week. But I did finish them in the end. Just not on the weekend…

I’d also like to take this opportunity to point you towards a really good game. It’s called Elements of Escape, and it’s made by the famous F1ak3r, and the new version was released last Sunday (I think?). Little help from me in the graphics as well ; )

But seriously, it’s a good game. It was also in the GM race for a period of time, and it did quite well. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed.

TRY IT, I TELL YOU!

Another thing…

I watched this video about somebody banning somebody else from a track race because of their suit that has to do something with their muslim religion. Just watch this video:

http://www.yahoo.com/s/785183

I think it's stupid, really, that she has to take religion into sporting. They have no connection. Also, the announcer guy for the news was also full of crap because he said that the muslim religion does not allow women to show their body. Not true at all. I like to consider myself agnostic, but I have a muslim friend and my dad is muslim as well. Nowhere in the religion does it say women are required to cover themselves. This is just a weird thing people came up with to show the world that they are muslim.

I’ll add a few questions like usual to finish this blog up.

1. Anyone do stopmotion here? I guess claymation counts as well.

2. What’s the average age on 64d? It would be interesting to know/

3. Nationality? I believe we have quite a diverse range of people here on 64d. Including nationalities.

Thanks for reading. That’s all for now (folks…)

I’m glad the parser is back up.

Welcome back TwistyWristy.

I agree wholeheartedly with you about those guitar designs.

<bows> No applause, no applause. And yes, the new version was released last Sunday. And yes, it was rated 8/10 by REZ. And ESA helped a lot, not a little. But enough shamless advertising.

1. Does Lego stopmotion count?
2. They had a poll about that a while ago. The average age was somewhere between 13 and 16.
3. As you know, I'm South African.

1) I did make some stopmotion movies with a friend, just for fun, nothing serious.

2) Well, as F1a3r said, 13-16. But I'm 14 (almost 15) if you want to know.

3) I'm Dutch

Guitar Hero is a game. Its fun. However it compares to playing a guitar doesn't matter. It isn't suppose to "beat" playing a real guitar. It is a game, that is all.

@stampede: Thanks.

@F1ak3r: Of course Lego stopmotion counts!

@Lapixx & Bryan: Dutch? I've been to Holland twice and loved it. Great country.

@Nathan: I'm just saying what I think about it. I have no problem if other people find it fun.

What would make you think that I consider it anything else?

1. Check it out

3. Finland.

I agree about those guitar designs, you can barely play them. They are just to look at, just like the bands who play them. (Trivium)

A friend of mine has got such a guitar.(less extreme though) so I can tell.

Average age, 15,16 I guess. Maybe younger if you count all the inactive members that got bullied away.

Nationality, Dutch. A lot of Dutch people here. A Dutch proffesor created Game Maker I guess that's why there are so many Dutch people here.

Guitar hero is a game. We know. But it couldn't compete with real guitars. Not even in price. (Ask 'Dikke Dennis')

Lol @ Distortion. Only Dutch people get that joke.

OK I'll explain

A dutch gaming magazine called Power Unlimited decided to let holland's biggest Rock 'n Roll Hooligan (litterally biggest) review Guitar Hero. Afterwards he destroyed the controller in a JImi Hendrix fashion (burn, smash, throw, smash, burn more repeat)
