Greetings everyone, and welcome to Falcon Squad (soon to be subtitled)… a little project I've been working on for about a month now.
Falcon Squad is a top down shooter which, when finished, will hopefully include a pretty fulfilling, story-driven campaign mode, a training area, and statistics tracking via Reflect. Right now though, it's only got multiplayer modes, which I am very happy with so far.Screenshots ...and one last screenshot link! [:P] Though it isn't without it's occasional problems, I'd really like to see what everyone thinks of this at this point… so please check it out, play some people online (you'll need a Reflect Account), and let me know!Features· Fully working menu / Reflect login system· Online multiplayer for up to 16 players, with deathmatch team dm, and capture the flag· Adjustable settings for the host· 2 large maps to choose from· 5 weapons, plus grenades· Engine is almost 100% complete· Saves /load player color information· Dynamic sound system, with lots of great ambiance and sound effectsFixes in the most recent version (May 13, 2007):· Chat text is easier to read (added shadow· Team colors are now shown in the TAB score sheet while playing· New map Grassy Knoll added (smaller than the others by 25%)· Fixed most / all of the actor_id errors· Got rid of the show_message() on client join· Fixed a few tile problems· Added a version check so the game will tell you if there is a new version out· Fixed most / all of the string errors· Reduced EXE size by about 2 Mb· Reduced total ZIP size by about 1 MbControlsWASD - Movement for player / spectator cameraLeft mouse - Fire, spawn, etc.Right mouse - Throw GrenadeMiddle mouse (click) - Melee attackMiddle mouse (wheel) - Change weaponEnter - Initiate / send chat messageF4 - Toggle windowed / full screenEsc - ExitGame InfoMade with GM7 - NT / XP/ VistaRuns at 800x600 windowed, start full screen, no resolution changeDownloadClick here to download! Hehe, well I see your point, but don't let this multiplayer stuff sway you too much - I am really planning on making a neat single player game to go along with it, so it shouldn't end up sharing too much with CO except for it's camera's vantage point.
Actually Adventus, I just tried out Filterforge after reading about it in your bump mapping topic over at the GMC. There's only one texture that I've made with it that's used in FS, (the underwater rocks), but it worked so well, I had to go ahead and use it.And yeah, I agree Radnom, it looks a little strange - I tried to make it look a little more natural than your standard TDS graphics, but it's mostly like that to make the shooting seem more realistic, as far as the gun and the bullet angles go. I suppose I could have had the bullets come from a bit to the side… hmm… well, we'll see. [:P]Great game, though I still think that TDS controls should be relative to your direction, eg. W moves Foward, S moves Backwards, A strafes Left and D strafes Right.
Loving the graphics, played online not long ago, works really smoothly, no (visible) lag even on my crappy connection. [:D]I disagree NiCk TM :P
Up=up down=down and so on and so forth is the best way. Otherwise you end up going in circles while strafing..<a href="http://64digits.com/users/Firebird/firebird5_pwning_on_falcon_squad.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://64digits.com/users/Firebird/firebird5_pwning_on_falcon_squad.jpg" width="500" height="400" /></a>
Extremely nice work FF
Fred, is versus the only mode that works? I can't do campaign or training because of beta build errors.
The player gets 'choppy' on my computer :S
Also, the grenades, yeah, when you initially throw them, give'm more force! I almost walked right into my own grenades!Chiken, the grenades throw to where you put the cursor!
