I am not one to complain much about certain things, but this has been bugging me lately, so I figured I'd write a blog about it. I've been a member of GMG (Gmae Maker Games) for about a year now, and since then I've posted demos of my games, final versions, and participated in the off topic part of the community a bit. It's not the forum I visit the most, but I do find it fun to drop in now and then. When I finished Hover Tank 3D in January 06, I posted it at the GMC and at the GMG. I also just recently posted Linked on their forum.
The part about all this that bugs me is that when I submitted HT3D to their games archive, I figured it would take a couple of weeks or so, and then it would be reviewed by one of the staff, or even featured in the monthly spotlight, if they felt it was good enough. So I've waited, and waited, seen many of the newer games get reviewed… And now, half a year later, HT3D has yet to be reviewed, and Linked, posted within hours of the GMC topic, got it's first post about 5 minutes ago.I say to GMG: What gives? I know my games aren't perfect, but the differences between responses from one forum to the other is absurd.
Hehe, yeah I agree, but I still don't think the crowds are all that differrent. Thanks for the reply though (I did rad all of it, hehe).
Oh well, guess I'll just wait til the next release, maybe they'll like that! [:P]Wow. I just realized how long a post I made. Maybe I should get a badge for longest post ever, eh? :D
The GMG only reviews 1 in 100 or so games. Sometimes it reviews games from years ago as well, so it's nothing against your game. Submtting a game to the GMG archive does not guarantee a review at all :D
Nor is getting it reccomended, but when people reccomend a game, it lets the staff know that there is a user demand for a review for a game.
Fred, now that we cleared up that there really is nothing on both sides, Rockyran is probably right. Luck just wasn't on your side with HT3D at GMG. :PI know that, I don't really think that they don't like me, or that they were actually snubbing me on purpose. I just am surprised that they hadn't reviewed it, is all.
I know how you feel.
GMS seams pretty good about reviewing games though.-ElmerniteAn instant review? I released the game in January…
I agree with Supremez, GMG is full of noobs! Beware!
Well, if you want to think that I wanted an instant review, that is up to you. I never expected an instant review (I said "a couple of weeks or so", remember?).
My games have never been reviewed at GMG, but I dont mind. The comments/other people give them 8 and 9, so I am quite happy.
Like people have said before me, dont expect a review even if your game is the shiznit or after waiting ages. :P
