Reviving the old RPG project that I started in January. The above is what I have so far. Over the next few days I'll be adding the beginning of the storyline.

The first demo will consist of about 30 minutes of gameplay and will introduce the plot and give users a chance to learn the controls and feel for the battle system.

A few things that you'll be expecting in the battle system is:

-Real time enemy spawn. No random stuff. You'll see the enemies walking around and will have a chance to chase them or run away.

-Turn base battles. Final Fantasy style.

-Leveling up system

Not much for you to see at the moment, just thought I'd introduce the project and let the few people who were in my RPG conversation the other day know that it is in fact being worked on.

I'd also like to let anyone whose making an RPG know that I'm all for tips and ideas. Need someone to test yours? Give me a shout. I'd appreciate feedback as well. Honestly, I doubt any of our RPG's are going commercial and they'll turn out a whole lot better if we discussed them with each other. RPG's aren't the best games built with Game Maker at the moment. I'd like to make a decent one, for myself and for the genres reputation.

From this statement, I would assume you're using GM to develop this title? At first I thought you were using RMXP or RMVX, because the tilesets look (or are?) the same. Not that it matters. If you're working in GM, kudos. I've always wanted to get into making an RPG in GM (I'm a story-line whore, its pretty much all I do is write stories).

I'd be happy to test the engine/beta for you if you'd like :) Good luck on the game!

EDIT: I'd be careful, Qwilder. I'm an avid CT fan…AVID…

He uses RPG Maker tiles and sprites just for placeholders. As we all know, animation is a bitch. It's actually a great idea to have placeholder graphics while you work on the core.

GM RPGs aren't too difficult to make. It's actually a whole lot of fun. Also, RPG making in Game Maker is a sort of bragging right, so there's an incentive. Few people do them.

I like how I have every other comment on this blog. What can I say? I like the topic(s).

I use GM for every program and game that I make. And the sprites you'll be seeing in my game will come from just about any internet resource I can find until the game is programmed all the way through. I'll do graphics afterwards.

I wasn't trying to insult or anything about the graphics :P I was just curious if you were using GM or RMVX. I was bit into RPG Maker (from 2000 all the way up to VX), and was curious if you were using that engine. :)
