I did a lot of productive stuff today, one of them which i'm developing a new graphics engine for The World's End.
it's going to help me out a lot. it'll be easier to make new animations for my characters and easier for me to allow AI to pick up weapons in the game.Quick vid: more on that soon.also, i've been thinking of renaming The World's End to something shorter and more memorable. i can't really think of anything good really. tell me if you've got any ideas.plus, I've gotten better at coloring with my tablet.did a quick doodle of the main character today:since overhauling the graphics allows much easier animations, i'm overhauling some of the gameplay in campaign too.i'm going to make its level design much less linear, the player will be able to choose multiple paths to go to, i'll add some stealth elements(slim chance though), hand to hand combat(which i've been thinking of implementing for years now), and I'll add a new "kill cam" to campaign, where the game will sometimes go into slow motion, when the last enemy is killed, showing their gruesome death in slow motion. these will all be pretty easy to do espeacially since i've got a new animation system.lastly, more info on that other game I'm making, I've named it "Fallen", havent been working on it too much recently, was trying to focus on some possible graphical styles for TWE. but I did get a really good story down. It'll be a short game though, you'll be able to beat it in like 30 minutes.in case you don't remember which game i'm talking about:Fixin Them Graphics

don't start a sequel before finishing the first, Taizen.
but, seriously. you should update your game's graphics eventually, or get someone to do them for you. Considering your game doesn't require realistic graphics, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.but, it's your choice.you'll feel proud of yourself, and it'll feel like you're playing a much better game overall. the feeling of accomplishment is the best feeling there is when dealing with game development.Don't get me wrong. I would love to have kickass graphics.
I'm not able to do them, so I guess I can ask someone down the line (lol two weeks before release) to resprite the game for me :Voh, i had no idea you were releasing it so soon, actually. nvm then, lol.
I should point out Touhou Mother. Terrible graphics at first, then someone went and remade them right around release time.
But don't put it off that long. Touhou and Mother are both established franchises and each has its own (large) fanbase.Oh, excellent.
Well, Lunacy Star isn't to befinishedreleased until early 2012, so I'll need to find someone before then to do it.And fast. The game, despite what one may think, has over 110 images to make over.I have over 150 to redo, and i have to make them look realistic-ish. :(
Taizen, you should probably update the graphics at least somewhat for LS.
I never really considered doing any reviews, for some reason, it just never entered my mind. So yeah, I would do some reviews. I would say I could review any game that wins an official compo on 64D, for starters. You see, that's understandable though. Your game is a overhead view shooter.
It has graphics for things a game like mine would never need.Actually, I'm surprised someone can do such a game with 150 images. My metroidvania tapped out at 120 or so before the reboot, and it had all of five minutes of gameplay. If I did all the sprites for Chaos Weapon for what content there is now, I'd be pushing 400 sprites.Come to think of it, who the hell would resprite something as large as an rpgEdit: Ninja'd again.Don't worry, man. I did say I'd be redoing a little bit of it.What is there to redo though, is the question. I've got BGs next in line. Also a new HUD. One that isn't solid mohagony.Pretty bullets?Oh, the wireframe ships, I guess.Give Rez some time to touch up a bit, if you're really going to do that.
And fuck, I came so close for 64Dare. >=[I have exactly 571 sprites, actually. Just found out….
Jesus Christ. I hope I don't have to redo all of those.EDIT: about 50 of them I shouldn't have to redo. well, it ain't much, but at least that's 50 less sprites to redo. :(
