Fixin Them Graphics

I did a lot of productive stuff today, one of them which i'm developing a new graphics engine for The World's End.

it's going to help me out a lot. it'll be easier to make new animations for my characters and easier for me to allow AI to pick up weapons in the game.

also, i've been thinking of renaming The World's End to something shorter and more memorable. i can't really think of anything good really. tell me if you've got any ideas.

plus, I've gotten better at coloring with my tablet.

did a quick doodle of the main character today:

since overhauling the graphics allows much easier animations, i'm overhauling some of the gameplay in campaign too.

i'm going to make its level design much less linear, the player will be able to choose multiple paths to go to, i'll add some stealth elements(slim chance though), hand to hand combat(which i've been thinking of implementing for years now), and I'll add a new "kill cam" to campaign, where the game will sometimes go into slow motion, when the last enemy is killed, showing their gruesome death in slow motion. these will all be pretty easy to do espeacially since i've got a new animation system.

lastly, more info on that other game I'm making, I've named it "Fallen", havent been working on it too much recently, was trying to focus on some possible graphical styles for TWE. but I did get a really good story down. It'll be a short game though, you'll be able to beat it in like 30 minutes.

also, everyone seems to have their own games to work on lately, i'm glad to see people making games again. it's getting me motivated to do more things for my games now. :D

with that said, I just might enter the next compo.

yup, when i used the file in game maker 8.1, it worked perfectly, but i hate using game maker 8.1, because it says "GayMaker" at the top lol.

eh, it's not worth the upgrade really. :(

EDIT: also, do you want to make a fire particle effect? because the fire is really shit in my game. if you don't want to, it's understandable. :'(

…I think I just lost confidence in my own drawing skills. /selfpity

As for the title thing… Is there a plot to your game? Maybe you can think of one if you take a look at it.

In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing the improved graphics for your game.

@JID Sure, I'd love to make fire for you, as I have said before, I really enjoy making particle effects. If you need any others done, don't hesitate to ask. and about the GM8 thing. Just make sure to compile it in 8.1 and it should be fine. the name has a good theme to it, but the wording needs work. try wordplay or something with the same meaning, said in a different way, like "Our Final Hours" or something.

thanks for the compliment. also, I'm rewriting TWE's story as we speak, haha.

Giving the characters lots of depth and history wiithout it being overly complicated.

it's story will be very personal, focusing on you and your squad.

It'll be grim, depressing and mysterious. Since level design is one of my favorite thing to do when designing a game, this should be easy and fun to make.

There will be moments hinting/explaining why the aliens attacked Earth and the zombies even exist. Also, tons of plot twists and deaths you didnt see coming.

but it'll focus on more personal things, without it being drawn out.

So, the game will have a 'survival' feel to it.

Thanks a ton. You're gonna get a big fat spot in the credits of the game if when it is released.

Also, yeah, i've been thinking about compiling it in 8.1, should work. yeah, i'm thinking of a new name for the game aswell, still.

try converting this one back to gm8 instead, I copied all the code and everything into a brand new file, just in case game maker is imagining code that isn't there.
