So it was about three months agoMy interest in game creation was renewedJust thought I'd letcha knowThat now it's an interest I don't includeIn my top priorities I don't have time for such a thingNow I'm busy getting busy in sororitiesAnd makin' money to pay for my blingAn RPG entry from duckmanIs not to be expectedIt's not because I suck, manOther interests have been selected
I want to be like Steve Jobs.
thanks twinsoul, that means a lot.
also, fuck you 3 people happy that I'm quitting game design. You're turds.Programming > Game Design. I'll put up with some game design for the tasty tasty coding though. And the recognition that games bring compared to my more abstract projects.
On the upside, I'm back into game design, and I have to be worth like,10 Rezzes. That being said, I've always <3'd Rez's games.@Looda: Eh. Being a code monkey isn't my ideal career. Unless you think you'll be the one coming up with all the ideas. Then that'd be good.
@Kilin: I'm starting my career off to a strong start with my internship at Red Hat, and I _love_ what I'm doing. They give their programmers a lot of control. Game development as a job ? Perish the thought.
Saw my name in the comments, thanks for the love guys!
And to everyone else thinking about "quitting" - do it. It's good inspiration for making more games (speaking from experience). Same goes for any hobby. Sometimes you just need to step back for a bit. If it's truly a passion, it will return.Let me reiterate.
Kilin: You implied I'd be a code monkey, emphasis on the my or not.
Also, game development is a lot more competitive than some other high-paying and rewarding programming jobs.@Rez: You should continue to make graphics for games though. Youre really good with your style.
Sorry man, I heard "Programming > Game Design" and thought you were preaching.
No arguments that it's competitive.
