A warning for Windows XP users.

Posted by wazu on Dec. 21, 2007, 1:58 a.m.

What I am about to show you is… some old pre-release screenshots of windows XP (apparently, Microsoft forgot to remove them from explorer.exe, so simply decompile, and Bob's your uncle.) showing the development of the OS.

Alright folks, I want you to look at the tray at the bottom of your screen. Look at the start, and those 5 little dot things just to the right of it… apparently, they couldn't decide whether or not to put it in, so here's some of the screenshots of the tray:

Now look at the following banner things (supposed to go on the start menu, but ditched before release) - they refer to Windows Server 2003 as "Codename Whistler Server":

Also, look at the screenshot (no higher res available, this is the only screenshot of the unfinished XP in explorer.exe)

Okay, leave a comment containing conspiracy theories based on my findings…. NAO!

There's more danger in running vista, than a few dots on XP.

FACT!

There's a reason that the XP looks like an emote with it's tongue sticking out.

Wow you are an idiot. As said, the dots are an indication of whether the task bar is locked or not. Vista does the same thing just there are 18 dots instead. As for the screen shot, the release of Windows XP looked like that too except you had to change your menu styling to classic or something.

You sir are the epitome stupid.

p.s. what is the big deal about referring to the windows server codename? I duel boot my PC running the released version of Vista and it comes up as vista/longhorn loader which was the codename for vista. OMG IT IS AN EVIL CONSPIRACY

I remember seeing that somewhere.

Oh yeah. RMB on Task bar > Settings. Have a nice conspiracy.

So what, that's nothing important really. If you found some sort of device used my Microsoft to spy us, that could have been perhaps a good find, but guess, everyone knows Micrsoft already spies us.

Silly ass, those aren't from previous builds.

Right click your taskbar and hit properties.

Lo, there they are.

As for the weird start menu side image, that's for when all hell breaks loose on the comp. Not pretty.
