Posted by Astryl on Oct. 4, 2012, 3:48 a.m.

Of course, the potential interest in this blog will depend on whether the people reading it have any interest in the subject matter or not.

I haven't written an interesting blog in a while though; my life has suddenly been frantic, what with work. Not stressful, just an unaccustomed lack …

A few things to present

Posted by Astryl on Sept. 29, 2012, 2:48 a.m.

Well, it's my weekend off. And what do you know? I've actually done stuff. Woot.

Anyway, here's my latest excuse for art:

Made under great strain using the new version of GIMP, which just happens to remove all the brushes I like to use, forcing me to make them myself… …

We need to update a few things...

Well I was trawling google, And realized a couple of things…

We don't have a Wikipedia page. We do have a hopelessly short and outdated Uncyclopedia page, ditto for the GM Wiki, and most of the information out there is either to do with RPG4D or this

So, anybody …

Connected

Posted by Astryl on Sept. 23, 2012, 6:24 a.m.

Took me long enough. Involved my dad soldering 8 distinct pieces of cable into one. About 30 meters of insulated copper later and my computer is finally connected to the internet again… and I mean my computer….

My desktop. Still as functional as ever

Avert eyes from the taskbar

Well. …

I found it under the carpet...

My lost inspiration. Good thing I didn't have to replace it.

Doodled that tileset at work. Using strict NES limitations (Though not the usual NES palette).

So here's the plan: I make a platformer with artwork limited to NES hardware specifications in my usual style, make NES music for the …

Progress? Nah. None here...

So I'm late to the party and I haven't quite started my competition entry yet. Though I have been experimenting with something involving 8 meters of hose and a lighting engine :3

I've already made the decision to make a simple platformer this time round; I'm still working on …

Adventures in Programming in General

Well, I'm stuck waiting until Friday to begin my plan for worldcompetitive domination, and in the interim I'm stuck making/fixing/upgrading my toolkit.

Already, I have a plan for my game, which is going to be 3D, and will use the core engine I created for the last comp (Which …

Welcome to Century 21. We are insane.

Yes, completely and undeniably insane.

Take a quick look at this:

And tell me that it isn't an awesome idea… Because damn, I'd like to shoot flies/mosquitoes/other pests with a shotgun too.

In unrelated news, my knee is feeling somewhat better, so they took away my walking-stick, so I …

Mega can't skateboard...

Posted by Astryl on Sept. 3, 2012, 3:30 a.m.

I was originally going to title this "I used to be a well coordinated human like you, but the I took a skateboard to the knee", but…

Anyway, Saturday was an amusing day. I got home from work and saw my brother and sister skateboarding on our driveway.

Here's …

Heads up, free art book

Posted by Astryl on Sept. 1, 2012, 12:04 p.m.

I heard about this thanks to a new South African game development site (Which looks horrible, I must say. See here to see what I mean).

But anyways…

I'm having trouble downloading this myself, but it looks interesting enough; thought I'd bring it to everybodies attention.
