Read about the RTS and junk here

Unfinished data PDF

So life's been busy and I decided to put some stuff on hold since I just don't have the time to create the resources.

But I still long to make games, thus the RTS revival project has begun.

Since the …

First RTS, even though...

I had planned and considered them before.

Then I find some free graphics for a canceled game called Hard Vacuum at Lost Garden.

Now I have always enjoyed RTS games, but I liked Dune 2 / 2000 over Command and Conquer. Something about it being more of a resource war …

Damn it, it happened again.

I must be in some kind of coding mood, as a little searching and some inspiration led me to make a RTS map editor.

I stumbled upon Lost Garden, which is a pretty interesting site if your into game making. The owner/artist happened to be giving away some graphics for …

Pretty world generation.

It's gotten improved and prettified.

So yes, I haven't got a chance to do anything for the Halloween compo thingy, mostly because I haven't been able to do any art as of yet.

Instead of being idle and bummed, I decided to continue work on the world-generator-civ-clone I decided to …

Its not perlin.

Because, I am always distracted by mini-projects…I decided to give a shot at random world generation.

This is the early stages, different land tiles are simply randomly applied, but the magic is in the land generation. Fixed some stuff and now have some dumb logic to create hills and mountains …

Finally! And only Nintendo had the balls...

to say what every logical person could of said…

Discuss, or not.

Activity, finally.

I'm seeing blogs about gaming, creation and other such junk…is 64digit's making a comeback?

Has the sirens who invaded attracted a flock?

Is GMC really that bad? I haven't checked it in a long time…

People seem to be making progress, some amazing games are popping up.

Sure we don't …

Shadows

Posted by Scott_AW on Oct. 6, 2010, 9:45 p.m.

Shadows now are working. Its based on the current light sources, light sources mark an array in its range(every 16pix/units) and the shadow reads it for its coords.

The array is also used to see if the player is in a shadowed area. The bottom of the shadow is randomized …

More Legend of Neil, and stuff.

Posted by Scott_AW on Oct. 4, 2010, 6:55 p.m.

Caught up on watching Legend of Neil, I missed the last one and the new one comes out tomorrow.

I love that show, its just 8 minutes but that seems to be just enough.

Now I wish it would never end, but oh well, maybe Neil will masturbate to …

Tech demo is technically a demo

Posted by Scott_AW on Oct. 1, 2010, 7:24 p.m.

Here's a small techdemo for the diversion known as 64digit's halloween contest as started by Rez.

Its not at all optimized yet, its like a combination of a in-progress engine and a mock-up.

Right now I have ideas on how room data is going to be stored, but first I …
