And because I thought it could use improvement too….

So I redid the grass object, its twice the resolution in the same space, so thinner grass. Had to make it taller too…

But now it has a special new feature! It's height is its life, so as you hack away, …

F_ it, voxelize that grass.

Masked walls as grass? Kind of worked, but then it seems to have killed performance. How about ortho sprites? Seem kind of funny….

How about a special flat wall that always faces the player? Looked kind of neat, almost seemed like you were pushing the grass aside….but kind of looked …

Did the first voxel model for the smaller trees, it is no were near a bitch as doing the big tree will be.

Luckily I just need to modify the small and large strips I make to create the other variations.

I've updated my strip2vox program to allow a custom transparent color, vertical or horizontal reading, and a nice prompt that lets you know you should be in 16bit color mode.

There is some clipping issue with build that can't be resolved, but I did find a few that could be. One problem I was having was windows were showing through roofs, if you were on top of a roof. Another major issue was shading of objects.

The first in over a dozen buildings for the town in Sparrow Valley is pretty much done. I may add some paintings when I make them, and a small things like meat cleaver, decorate tables(dishware) and such.

With the aid of an extended palette table and extensive palette swapping…that and a recolor to the default brick color…we have multi-colored housing!

So far only one building has a finished interior, and its not really finished until I churn out some chairs and tables. I may create a few …

The stoners are now disappointed…

But now I have voxel pipes! And bookcases…but I'm going to redo them, make them a little thicker, cuz right now they are super thin.

But the pipes are the cool thing, because they're individual pieces. Corner, straight and capped end. The possibilities are endless…because …

There, now it looks better.

Figured out how to do the shading, now it fades much nicer.

Fire smoke also has been changed, it starts out black and turns white.

The explosion is a random assortment of black, red, orange and yellow color smoke that gradually shifts to gray. The colored ones darken to black …

Boom, dirty boom.
