Tumble! gameplay concept demo

Restating my acceptable-length 591-character blog, as some callous person incorrectly reported it…

"Blogs with little or no content are not allowed, and may be removed from the front page. Short blogs may also be removed, a blog should at least fill the space for writing the blog, stretching it."

Game concept: Tumble

Posted by omicron1 on Sept. 12, 2007, 9:20 p.m.

This game concept is for a puzzle game based on physics and time. Basically, your goal is to collect N "gems" on each level, where N is a preset number. In order to do so, you must use your control of time to pause and unpause the "simulation" of physics …

Week 2

Posted by omicron1 on Sept. 3, 2007, 11:30 a.m.

1. Transition to Wheaton College went well; classes are not too hard; plenty of free time. I'm taking 16 hours of credit this semester - a balanced load which I'm quite happy with.

2. All enemies, bosses, backgrounds created for UR. Remaining to do: Redo menu style; finish final level …

The oBlog: 11 Aug edition

Posted by omicron1 on Aug. 11, 2007, 1:01 p.m.

One week remains before I leave for college. I will have to pack up my computer soon, so today is probably my last day of outside contact before a two-week hiatus. (On the plus side, Wheaton is ranked first in the nation for food quality, so I definitely won't starve.) …

aNET demo

…is in queue. (If any of you mods see this, could you hurry it along? Thanks.)

I have decided to release demos for aNET on a regular basis, rather than using the Major Release Only method that I used in DoC. aNET isn't quite as "fragile" as DoC; and I …

Just because

Posted by omicron1 on July 29, 2007, 9:12 p.m.

(Because I can, that is)

The rendering process of aNET is completely separate from the gameplay; thus, it is only a matter of a day's work to add an entire extra dimension to the graphics.

Thus: aNET in 3d.

In a similar fashion, it would be quite simple to replace …

Efficiency

Posted by omicron1 on July 28, 2007, 9:40 p.m.

I've increased the base speed of DoC's engine from 32 fps to 45 fps. My goal is 100 fps.

I have also partially implemented the Supply Caravan - a very important element of any army. It acts as a surrogate supply point, giving nearby units food, ammunition, etc. - and …

Smoke and mirrors

Posted by omicron1 on July 26, 2007, 6:09 a.m.

I've got a host of new screenshots today… as well as more than a bit of news.

1. I've completed some new particle effects for smoke, which happen to both look better and run faster than the old system. It's fully-lit, partially-alpha'ed, and looks beautiful in motion.

On a similar …
